St. Joseph's Day...

This man loved his salt.

Happy Birthday, George Joseph Dana! (1914-1988) I do miss you. I still often think of you, and wonder what you would think--and do with your family now. I got from you your sense of history, and it's valuable place in our lives, and yet remember your humility when you told me that "Being a Dana and having 50 cents would buy you a cup of coffee." Well, grandpa, coffee is a little more expensive now, and being a Dana...well, lets just say "rest in peace" abuelo. One of the treasured memories of my childhood was the time you told me you loved me...I knew even then that old cowboys like you didn't say it much...but I knew it already. Feliz Cumpleanos, abuelo. Vaya con Dios.
